PHILADELPHIA—April 12, 2018—Rivers Casino Philadelphia announced today that its longtime general manager, Wendy Hamilton, will step down this spring. Hamilton and Rush Street Gaming, owner-operator of Rivers, announced the planned departure to Team Members and city officials today. Hamilton will remain with Rivers until a successor is appointed.

“It’s been the ride of a lifetime,” said Hamilton, who joined Rush Street Gaming in 2010 and spearheaded the ground-up development of the Delaware Avenue casino. “From a vacant brownfield to a 260,000-square-foot gaming and entertainment venue, hosting 4 million visitors annually—not to mention hands down, THE BEST team of 1,500 rock star employees—we’ve come a long way, baby.”

Hamilton, a Philly native, recognized civic leader and the 2018 recipient of The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia Paradigm Award, honoring the region’s outstanding businesswomen, hasn’t disclosed her future plans.

Hamilton’s Rivers tenure included construction, staffing, grand opening and a $164 million expansion—during a steady proliferation of gaming in Pennsylvania. “This team and this property have performed remarkably well in a difficult competitive environment,” she added. “It doesn’t get any better than what I’ve been part of here.”

A 24-year casino and hospitality veteran, gaming may or may not be in Hamilton’s future. “Building dynamic workplace cultures to accomplish complex business objectives is my forte,” said Hamilton. “Life is short, and I’ve got lots left to explore.”

Rush Street Gaming co-founder and Rivers CEO Greg Carlin praised Hamilton’s stewardship of Rivers and wished her well. “Wendy was the driving force behind Philly’s casino for eight years. She built an outstanding team and unmatched workplace culture. Her leadership has been genuine, and her promotion of our brand has been passionate. She’s one in a million, and we wish her all the best.”

Carlin said Rivers is well positioned for the next wave of gaming expansion in Pennsylvania. With an array of amenities such as Geno’s Steaks, Saxbys, Tacconelli’s Pizzeria and Hugo’s Frog Bar & Chop House—Rivers is also home to the country’s first “Poker Night in America” Poker Room. The Rivers Event Center recently hosted two sold-out performances by Philadelphia Eagles alum Jon Dorenbos, and playrivers.com went live for New Jersey gamers just over a year ago.

Carlin affirmed that commitment to community is a Rush Street core value in all markets of operation and that Rivers’s steadfast support of Fishtown and Philadelphia will continue. Rivers will contribute $1 million to the Penn Treaty Special Services District in October 2018, bringing its total contribution to $6.7 million, and Rivers will serve as the title sponsor of the Mummers Parade through 2020.

Since opening in 2010, Rivers Casino Philadelphia has generated approximately $928 million in state and local taxes.
